Ranums and Cousins Reunion August 8, 2015!

A little looking into the past mixed with good food, friends, and family is a winning combination! Photo from 2009 reunion.

Place: Updated!

The 2015 reunion will be held at Grunahl Park in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin. The park is located on Mt. Horeb's west side. Just follow Main Street, then take Blue Mound Street to the south. The park is a couple of blocks south on Blue Mound Street on the left or east side of the street. Watch for the signs!

Sunday August 8, 2015 We have the enclosed shelter starting at 10:00 am. The pot luck dinner will start at 12:00 noon. Program will follow. We expect visiting and activities to continue well into the late afternoon and early evening.

Featured person:

Alvin Gilbert Ranum

We are intentionally "designing" this reunion to allow for maximum visiting. The activities we have put together will be brief and optional. They will be there if you want to partake in them. They include:

  • The main program will begin directly after the pot luck dinner. The program will be brief and include hand-outs that you can enjoy later.
  • A brief business meeting including a treasurer's report a discussion on the "Ranum Legacy Project" historical preservation efforts, and planning for the next reunion.

This is a scan of pages 250 - 372 of the Timber Hewers book. It does not include the picture pages. This is a wonderfully written look at pioneer life. It includes much information on the Lunns and the Ranums.

This interactive map includes places of significance in the life of Nels Knutson Ranum.
The Hauge Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church once sat high on the crest of a hill just a few minutes walk across the fields south of the Ranum home farm. Our generation of Ranums remember it as "great grandpa Nels Ranum's church" but it was the church home to many families in that area. Click here to see more pictures and read the article.
